Lava Beds National Monument 2422a

Petroglyph Point at the national monument. Though not visible in this pictue, the lower area of the cliff is covered in petroglyphs (see adjacent picture). Before BLM drained the area for farming in the early 1900′s, these cliffs were reached by canoe by Native Americans who inscribed petroglyphs in the rock.

Chas & Mani

Chas and Mani strike a pose.
Susie and Tyler were making a cornhole* set to give to Carrie on her birthday. They wanted to decorate it with pictures of Chas and Mani, since they spend so much time at Carrie’s farm. So Susie enlisted me to take some pictures that they could blow up to larger-than-life size (about three feet tall).
Suffice it to say that much cornhole was played at Carrie’s party.

* – Cornhole is actually like a beanbag toss game. Susie INSISTS that EVERYONE in Cincinnati plays. The fascination that our little social group has with the game has less to do with the game itself than with the veritable goldmine of prurient humor that is the name of the game.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Not pictured: Moroccan carrot dip and veggie tray, toasted walnut and red pear salad with greens that Josh and I picked at the farm, cranberry walnut dinner rolls, several desserts, a perfect wine and…well, that might have been everything…
Josh and I spent a morning out with Laura at Parker Farm, the farm that we do Community Supported Agriculture with, and were able to dig, pick, and gather many of the componets of our Thanksgiving meal. I’d never dug a potato before!
